Wooden Boat Festival | Port Townsend, WA

:: Wooden Boat Festival ::
Port Townsend, WA

We took the ferry across the Sound for our first wooden boat festival in this picturesque town, it was loaded with colors, music, art, and vendors and food! What a fun experience!

"Portrait of an artists self portrait" - This was a fun painting, this lady was painting herself painting the boats, so I snapped a photo and took it one step further. ;)

All the kids made their own handmade wooden boats complete with real sails! - This image reminded me of a Norman Rockwell scene.

I think I fell in love a little more with wooden boats, one day I want my own tiny little sail boat with bright red sails! I've got lots of ideas rolling around in my head now on how to incorporate a boat into my next photo shoot! ;)

City Lights | Seattle Artwork

:: City Lights | Seattle ::

I love my city, so happy to be able to call this place my home.
This first painting is for my own home, since the others in the skyline series had all been sold.
If you have never been to Gas Works park, I'd recommend a trip... you get the most stunning view of the skyline!

One of my favorite things about downtown is how rich in arts it is. Artists & photographers who simply love what they do. Inspiration is everywhere. I took a few minutes from my day to watch another artist paint down at the park, talked with a local photographer in his gallery filled with stunning photos of beautiful reflections of Seattle... quirky strange sculptures and art are everywhere. I love it!

Here are a couple pieces of artwork I recently finished.

Ferris Wheel | art & photography
I love looking at it, but don't think I'll ever be brave enough to ride it. ;)

Soar. Walk. Run.

Soar.  Walk.  Run.

I keep falling in love over and over again every day with the beauty of God's creation here.
We've been taking almost daily nature walks or occasionally a run with soft moss underfoot, trees touching the sky above you. I am in love. In awe, I bring my camera everywhere with me.

I know I could really never do the beauty of nature justice, but I try to capture just a little glimpse.

Its important to sometimes just really slow down, soak up and enjoy the beauty of this earth that God created. Everything from a sparrow to the mighty Bald Eagle, the delicate petals on a flower, a quirky spider who's made his web on your patio and the colors painted across the sky from a sunset.
 It is good.

We were walking along the beach here in Edmonds, WA at low tide when this mighty Bald Eagle came down to check us out. As he sat watching us several crows & seagulls dive bombed him.. screaming for him to get out of "their" spot. Finally he had enough and took off, what a beautiful site we will never forget!

Take time today to slow down and enjoy the world around you. :)
Love,

Explore. Dream. Discover.

Explore.  Dream.  Discover.

Children are such a great example of adventure & imagination!
I enjoyed this beautiful sunny morning at Picnic Point Beach capturing Briellah's playful spirit at her favorite place... the beach.

Shipwreck in the Fog | Snohomish Photographer

It all began on a dark & foggy morning...
and in the distance we spotted an old ship graveyard.

Sounds like the beginnings to a good mystery doesn't it? ;)

The tide was low enough to walk down to the old boat salvage yard at Picnic Point Beach (near Mukilteo, Lynnwood, and Edmonds) however when we turned around the head back the water had already risen enough we had to climb over the barnacle crusted rocks along the break water to get home! It was a very slippery & crazy adventure!

We couldn't get too close due to all of the "No Trespassing" signs, but after some research I've learned that this private property is now home to the remains of 27 boats (I could only clearly see two maybe three of them). Apparently, the original ower would salvage the metal and anything else he could and the hull would stay on the beach. The one hull that is still somewhat intact was called the Pacific Queen and was brought there in 1929.

We only had the 50mm lens with us, but from the distance we could tell something was perched upon the ship, when we zoomed in on the photo to our surprise were two bald eagles!

There is something so captivating & peaceful about boats... I frequently find myself drawn to photographing them.

Have you gone on a good adventure lately?
We would love to hear about it!
