the cottage.

I am so excited to share one of my new favorite places with you. Our art studio, a rustic tiny space, with old french doors, whimsical windows and a little front porch. 

It's a creative little get-away in our backyard... away from the phones, internet and computers. 

A place to just be inspired by nature, open the doors wide, listen to the birds, the water falling softly into the pond and laughter of our kids playing in the grass. 

Art, painting is my first love. I love being able to create either on canvas or from behind the lens. 

But, there is always something about wet paint and texture... being able to start with a blank canvas and create something from nothing. It inspires the way I shoot as a photographer. 

Here is a little glimpse inside our art cottage. It's still a work in progress... someday soon the outside will get a paint job. Still deciding on the perfect color.

Seattle engagement session 

Tyler & Ashley... sweet love. We met up in Seattle at the WA arboretum for their e-session, couldn't ask for a more beautiful evening. Warm soft sunshine made for a gorgeous Seattle Summer's day. 

They have that "grow old with me, the best is yet to be" kind of love. 

You know a session is going to be gorgeous when the first shot you take is the one below. He reaches out and pulls his love in close for a kiss on her forehead. Simply sweet & beautiful.

We are looking forward to their wedding next year 2014!!

Many layers of years past | area 51

:: a remodel project | area 51 ::

Decades ago... 1901, walls layered with many thick layers of torn wallpaper.

Let me introduce you to one of the rooms I find most fascinating in our 1901 home. 

Time gone. Colors and styles faded. Worn wood floors. This is the room we so lovingly refer to as Area 51.

I promised a few "remodel" photos of our new home... but as an artist I can promise I won't be posting your typical photos along the way.  I have had enough scraping of wallpaper for now, something I can assure you is now on my top 10 "things I hate" list.  Obviously this is a beautiful work in progress, a creative space begging to be photographed. Call me crazy but I see it as a beautiful mess.

 

 This room had the layers of wallpaper stuccoed over, worn carpet over the original wood floors... we are in the process of stripping it back to it's original beauty.   I wonder who has made these walls their own over the past 100+ years? I love a good mystery.

Hurzeler Photography is calling all seniors for the class of 2014!

We are kicking off our Senior Rep Program a little late this year as we are new to the Historic downtown Snohomish area! This is a way for seniors to have a fabulous FREE senior portrait session with the opportunity to earn additional goodies, just by helping us get more clients through referrals.

want to be a 2014 senior rep?
We are looking for outgoing students who are actively involved in their school and love being in front of the camera! Everyone has their own story & quirks, so there is no better way to capture YOU than with a |Signature| session. Designed uniquely to showcase your individuality!
Unique locations and really designing a creative unique session that speaks YOU, just like your signature.  

how it works: 
- You complete a 1-2 hour signature portrait session with us, multiple outfit changes!
- You receive "senior rep cards" that have photos from your session with our contact info on the back
- Opportunity to earn additional goodies and products for each referral you send our way
- We are looking for only two reps per school, so contact us now!
- You get to be our model for the 2014 school year, successful reps have the to earn more photo sessions and make friends in an epic styled group photo session with other 2014 reps in the area!

- A FREE |Signature| session  ($350 value!)
- Watermarked web images to use on FB, show off to friends & family
- 15% off your print and product order
- For every person you refer you receive a $25 dollar credit towards prints/products or gift card to the store of your choice! The more you refer the more you receive! Love!? 
  
requirements:  
To be eligible to be a 2014 Senior Rep for Hurzeler Photography, you must be a student graduating in 2014, must be active and involved in your school and community, have an outgoing personality, fun style, and most importantly, must be willing to spread the word about Hurzeler Photography to your friends and family.  ANY session booked and completed from your referral – whether its a family, baby, or another senior session – will count towards your rewards, so tell everyone you know about your session and of course SHOW them your photos!  
(Note: You are not eligible if you are already a rep for another studio)

name, contact info, age, school, city, and a brief explanation of why you think you would be the perfect candidate for this program!

 Oh my. Where to begin? I have fallen in love with this couple, the love and joy they have for each other is a beautiful thing! Love it when a client becomes a friend. Eli and I met up with them downtown Seattle and ended the session just hanging out over coffee and laughter! Love these two!

We wish you a lifetime of this love & passion you have for one another and look forward to capturing your wedding next year! 

This was completely them. Cue cheesy "I'll be your hero baby" music now. haha.... love it!
